DOORGUARD SYSTEMS, INC. was formed 20 years ago to market an innovative security product designed to address emergency exit doors that were being illegally secured. The concept of time-delay emergency exit locking systems was designed, patented, and manufactured to meet this need.

DOORGUARD TIME-DELAY allows one to know, through remote monitoring stations and local and remote alarms, when an exit through an emergency door has been attempted. When the initial exit is attempted, the door and monitoring stations sound an alarm, while the door remains locked for an additional 15 seconds (or 30 seconds if approved by local authorities). After that point the door opens allowing free egress. DOORGUARD products are easily interfaced with CCTV, Card Access, and any other security or burglar alarm systems providing dry contact closures. DOORGUARD’S 1200 lb. holding force provides enhanced perimeter security while retaining life safety in the event of a true emergency.

DOORGUARD’S product line incorporates electromagnetic locking systems. Solid state technology and a stringent quality control program ensure customers of a well engineered, well-manufactured product. All of DOORGUARD’S products are designed to be tied into the life safety system of the building for immediate fail safe operation. When the fire or smoke alarm is activated, the electronics releases the door immediately.

DOORGUARD products are UL Listed as systems for Special Locking Arrangements and for Auxiliary Locks (fire rated assembly). All Products comply with the NFPA Life Safety Code 101; the Uniform Building Code (UBC); the National Basic Building Code (BOCA); OSHA; the Standard Building Code: and are approved by the New York City Board of Standards and Appeals, Calendar 246-82-SA.
